RevieWatches exists to provide watch enthusiasts with independent, honest, and well-researched reviews. This page explains how we work.
Our Standards
- Honesty above all. Every rating reflects the reviewer's genuine assessment. We never trade positive coverage for compensation.
- No paid placements. We do not accept payment for inclusion in lists, reviews, or "Editor's Choice" selections.
- Transparent affiliations. If a review contains affiliate links, that fact is disclosed (see Affiliate Disclosure).
- Sample disclosure. If a brand provides a watch for review, we state this clearly. Receiving a sample does not guarantee a positive review.
- No conflicts. Our writers do not own equity in or work for the brands they review.
How We Review Watches
Where possible, our team handles the watch in person and wears it for a meaningful period (minimum 7 days for daily wear assessment, longer for sports & dive use cases).
Where in-person review is not possible, we clearly label the article as a "Buying Guide" or "Overview" rather than a hands-on review, and base our analysis on:
- Manufacturer specifications;
- Owner reviews and forum discussions (e.g. r/Watches, WatchUSeek);
- Industry expert publications;
- Auction-house records (for vintage pieces).
Our Rating System
We rate each watch on a 0–10 scale across five categories:
- Overall Score — weighted average across all categories.
- Design — aesthetics, proportions, dial legibility, build quality.
- Movement — accuracy, mechanical interest, finishing, reliability.
- Value — price relative to specification and competition.
- Comfort — wearability, bracelet/strap quality, balance.
Score Bands
- 9.5–10 — Reference benchmark. Excellence in nearly every aspect.
- 8.5–9.4 — Excellent. Highly recommended.
- 7.5–8.4 — Very good. Strong contender with minor caveats.
- 6.5–7.4 — Good. Solid choice, but better options exist.
- 5.0–6.4 — Average. Significant compromises.
- Below 5.0 — Not recommended.
