Garmin Fenix 5 Review
The Garmin Fenix 5 redefined the multisport GPS watch category with a sleeker form factor and advanced athletic tracking.
📑 Table of Contents
The Garmin Fenix 5 was a watershed moment for GPS sports watches. Garmin took the rugged Fenix DNA and made it significantly more wearable without sacrificing the features serious athletes depend on.
Design
Compared to its predecessor, the Fenix 5 is slimmer and better proportioned. The stainless steel bezel and fiber-reinforced polymer case strike a balance between durability and style that previous Fenix models didn't quite achieve.
GPS Performance
GPS accuracy with GLONASS support is excellent. The Fenix 5 offers 60-hour GPS tracking in UltraTrac mode, ideal for ultra-marathons and multi-day expeditions.
Sports Profiles
Running, cycling, swimming, skiing, rowing, the Fenix 5 covers virtually every sport with dedicated profiles and metrics. Customization via Garmin Connect IQ is extensive.
Verdict
While newer models have surpassed it, the Garmin Fenix 5 remains excellent value on the secondary market. If you find one at a good price, it's a superb multisport watch.
