Farer is one of the better-known independent brands of the last decade: British-designed, Swiss-made watches with bold colours and sensible sizes, sold only through its own website. It sits a step above most microbrands on price, starting at about £1,045, but it also uses Swiss movements and offers one of the longest guarantees in this price range. This article on Farer watches covers the brand, the movements, representative models, prices and the terms you get when you buy.

Who Is Farer?

Farer launched in 2015 and describes itself as "an independent British watch company". It designs its watches in London and uses Swiss manufacturing partners to prototype and produce them. The brand sells only through its own website, which it says allows competitive prices with "zero room to discount". It claims more than 40 models across more than a dozen collections, from dive watches and chronographs to dress watches and GMTs.

What sets Farer apart visually is colour. Its dials often combine several unexpected shades, with contrasting hands and details, and some models, such as the Resolute III, have a solid bronze crown cap embossed with the Farer "A".

Representative Models

All figures below come from Farer's own specifications in September 2026. Prices are in pounds sterling.

  • Resolute III (£1,095). A three-hand watch with a lacquered white enamelled dial. It measures 39mm across, 45mm from lug to lug and 11.8mm thick, with a boxed sapphire crystal, a screw-down crown and 100m of water resistance. It uses a Swiss La Joux-Perret G101 finished to the "soignée" grade, running at 28,800 vibrations per hour with about 68 hours of power reserve.
  • Lander IV 36mm (£1,375). A compact GMT with a date. It is 36mm across, 41.2mm from lug to lug and 11mm thick, water resistant to 100m, and uses the Swiss Sellita SW330-2 in "Top Grade", with about 56 hours of reserve. Farer re-engineered the case with a monobloc construction and a screw-down crown.
  • Endeavour, Titanium Series (£1,250). A 41.5mm grade 2 titanium diver, 45mm from lug to lug, with an internal rotating bezel and 300m of water resistance, again powered by the La Joux-Perret G101.
  • Marsden (£1,045). A hand-wound 35mm cushion-case watch, one of the brand's most affordable models.
  • Stratton (£1,825). A hand-wound moonphase with an Eisenkiesel stone dial.

The short lug-to-lug lengths stand out. A 39mm watch at 45mm, or a 36mm GMT at 41.2mm, will fit most wrists comfortably. You can check any Farer against your own wrist with our watch size calculator.

About the Movements

Farer's use of Swiss movements is the main technical difference from cheaper microbrands. The La Joux-Perret G101 offers a long power reserve of about 68 hours, and Farer uses it in the "soignée" grade, which the brand describes as the highest grade of that calibre, adjusted in four positions. The Sellita SW330-2 is a widely used Swiss GMT movement with a separately set 24-hour hand. These are not in-house movements, but they are well regarded and serviceable by Swiss-trained watchmakers.

Guarantee, Returns and Shipping

Farer offers a 60-month, or five-year, guarantee on the movements of all its watches. Its FAQ says this excludes loss or theft, magnetisation, the case, glass, crown and straps, and damage from use beyond the watch's water resistance. Returns are free within 30 days of the shipment date, and watch shipping is free worldwide.

Strengths

  • Swiss movements, including the La Joux-Perret G101 with about 68 hours of reserve.
  • A five-year movement guarantee, which is generous at this price.
  • Thirty days to return a watch, far longer than many microbrands.
  • Compact, wearable cases with short lug-to-lug lengths.
  • A distinctive use of colour that is easy to recognise.

Weaknesses

  • Higher prices than most microbrands, from about £1,045.
  • No discounts and no dealer network, so you cannot try one on in most shops.
  • The guarantee covers the movement, not the case, glass, crown or strap.
  • Bold designs will not suit everyone.

The Bottom Line

Farer offers Swiss movements, sapphire crystals, compact cases and bold, original design, backed by a five-year movement guarantee and 30-day returns. It costs more than most microbrands, but you get more for it, and the return window makes buying online less risky. If you want an independent watch with character and a Swiss movement for around £1,000 to £1,900, Farer is well worth a look.
